“ Cette image est l’aboutissement de l’évolution d’une pensée et de sa réalisation. Je nage en mer toute l’année avec un masque et un tuba. Il y a deux ans, en nageant depuis la côte, je me suis trouvée au milieu des bulles des plongeurs. Photographier a été la conséquence naturelle de mes promenades en apesanteur dans ce monde magique, de rêve. La vision des images était déjà dans mon esprit mais la production a demandé une organisation technique. Au départ, les prises de vues étaient sans personnage. Je me suis ensuite rapprochée des écoles de plongée pour continuer mon travail en pleine mer. En m’inspirant des œuvres de l’artiste Bill Viola, j’ai voulu introduire une figure dans cet univers liquide. L’étape suivante a été l’interaction et la coordination avec la jeune femme qui a plongé, pour moi, en apnée : je lui ai dessiné les figures, hors eau, comme j’imaginais la photo et sa pose. Le changement de film de l’appareil argentique, le travail en apnée, l’élément eau : l’instabilité des déplacements qu’elle crée, la rapidité des mouvements à saisir, ont été des contraintes à gérer lors de la prise de vues. “

Two years ago, off the coast, I found myself in the midst of bubbles produced by divers. And photography was a natural consequence of my wanderings in weightlessness around that magical dreamworld. The images were already in my mind, but their materialisation required a certain technical organisation. To begin with, they contained no human presence. So I consulted members of diving schools in pursuit of my work in the sea. Inspired by Bill Viola's art, I wanted to introduce a personage into this 'liquid universe'. The next stage was interaction and coordination with a young woman who agreed to be my subject. I sketched out figures on dry land, the way I imagined the poses and compositions. The fact of periodically having to change the rolls of silver-gelatin film, that of working with a diver, water as an element, its unpredictability, and the rapidity of the movements to be captured – these were significant constraints. "
